Welcome to Only Chains.
I’m in my 40s, and kink has been part of who I am for as long as I can remember. Long before I knew there was a name for it, I knew my interests were a little different. Growing up in the late ’80s and ’90s, there wasn’t an endless supply of information at your fingertips. There was no high-speed internet, no social media, and certainly no online communities to answer the questions I didn’t yet know how to ask.
Back then, discovery meant dial-up internet, VHS tapes hidden away on dusty shelves, and the occasional magazine that hinted there were others out there like me. I still remember buying my first copy of Bound for Pleasure (BFP). It wasn’t just another adult magazine—it was a glimpse into a world I hadn’t realised existed. For the first time, I understood that what I’d been feeling for years wasn’t unusual or something to be ashamed of. It had a name, a community, and a place.
Over the years, kink has become much more than a sexual interest. For me, it’s about trust, communication, vulnerability, and the unique connection that can exist between two people who truly understand each other. The physical side is enjoyable, of course, but it’s the emotional connection and mutual respect that have always mattered most.
I’ve been single since 2024, and while I’m open to meeting someone special, I’m not interested in forcing the issue. The right relationship has to be built on genuine compatibility, and for me, that includes a shared appreciation of kink. I don’t expect someone to fit into a particular box—I can switch with the right person—but whatever dynamic develops has to feel natural, mutual, and authentic.
This blog is a place for my thoughts, experiences, memories, opinions, and perhaps the occasional trip down memory lane. I’ll be writing about kink, relationships, the changing community over the decades, and whatever else comes to mind. If anything I write resonates with you, then welcome—you’re in good company.
